Allow for slight variation between individual pieces. Compare garment measurements with a garment, not with your body.

- From the top of the waistband to the hem down the outside leg.
Waist, hip and thigh are all-round measurements. Measure straight across a flat garment, then double it. Leg lengths stay as measured.
Use a soft tape measure over light clothing. Keep it snug and level, without pulling it tight.
Waist
Wrap the tape around your waist where you usually wear your trousers. Keep it level and snug, without pulling it tight.
Hips
Stand with your feet together. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping it level all the way round.
Inside leg
Stand barefoot with your feet slightly apart. Ask someone to measure from the crotch seam down the inside of your leg to your ankle bone. This is a body measurement, not the garment’s waist-to-hem length.
